I just installed an Athlon XP 2000+ with a PAL8045/Delta 68cfm/Artic Silver 3 and the readings
I'm getting are about 40-42 Celsius from the BIOS setup screen readouts. The system case temp
is shown to be about 25. Most of the reviews I saw on this HSF listed idle temp at about 30some
and load at 40 some.

How can I improve this? Here's the setup I have:

Thin layer of artic silver on CPU core, I install the HS so that the spring screw couldn't turn anymore,
put the shroud on top of the HS and then the Delta fan sucking the air from the bottom of the HS.

As for case fan. I have two 80mm (or are they 120) intake at the front of the case. I have a PCI
slot fan in the very bottom one. A small fan that came on the retail HSF from AMD just above the
USB, Keyboard, Mouse connector at the back blowing air outside case. The power supply from
Enermax is sucking air directly above the CPU. Above the PS I have another sunon blowing the
air that gather at the top. In the middle of the case I put another one to force the air up the case.
I just tist tied it in that hole. The other half of the hole is filled with cables.

Right now I thinking that maybe the CPU fan is blowing air so fast and so much that I'm simpy
recirculating it. It's not getting thrown out of the case fast enough. Maybe I should but a 120
on the side of the door directly in front of the CPU fan or put a series of small one above the PCI
slot on the back panel?

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

you set up looks good. i would suggest getting a case fan instead of using the stock CPU fan for exaust. wait a cople of days of the As to set they might drop a lil bit more. other then that make sure you have good air flow throuh the case. a 120mm might helo im just about to install 3 of them in my comp. hopefully this will drop the temps a good deal more

Another idea to gain a couple of degrees C or 4 degrees F would be to flip the fan so it blows toward the heatsink. You can see a comparison of this on this page.
