Is this normal?

Is it normal for wireless speeds to be considerably lower than wired speeds? Wired speeds are ~500KB/sec. Wireless = 250-300KB/sec. I just bought a netgear WGR614 router and its sitting in the room across the hallway (maybe 10-15ft away, no big obstructions, not far at all). I think I'm gonna take it back for poor performance but I want some input to see if this is typical or not.

No, not that low. What type of internet connection are you using? What times are you using it? Has WIRED always been consitant at 500kb/per sec? If so, I need to move to your area!

Yes 500kb/sec is very consistent. Usually its 550-600, but never below 500. Wireless I'm usually sitting at 300. I live in Utah =D

Are you talking about your LAN wired and wireless speeds, or your ISP's speeds.
