Is this normal for college GPA?

At Drexel, all that matters is your letter grade. So like an 80 and an 89 are both worth a weighted(by credits) 3.0 towards your GPA. It kinda sucks cuz I need a 3.0 to keep my scholarship money, and so far I've got around an 89, an 87, and an 85. Tomorrow is my chem final, if I get below an 86 I dip below the C range, and my weighted GPA will be like a 2.6 or 2.7, even though my weighted average is over 80. Is that normal for the letter grade to have a flat GPA like that?

That's the way it is at most places. Though some have it subdivided even further. I prefer the system where a 90 is just as good as a 98. Less work for me. ;)

edit: Why will you have a C? Unless the professor has some weird curve going on, you should have a B for the class.

I think its dependent on school. Some schools have +/-0.X for +/- grades.

With my average thus far, I need an 86 on the final exam to have a B in the class, sorry for the confusion, I got a 88 on the first midterm and a 67 on the second midterm(I took that test on 11/19, they day I posted my 350+ post girl thread, so I wasn't thinking very well), and with the way they grade I need an 86 on the final now. The cool thing is TA's have the power to adjust your grade a little, so if my TA sees that I've been to class and tried, if I have like a 78 or a 79 they have the ability to bump it up to a B...lets hope my TA likes me :)

Well, looks like you better study and get an 86 on the test, otherwise no B for you.

well, it wasn't really the ATOT that hurt my grade, it was the issues that I talked about in the thread, that day, there was a fire alarm at 4 in the morning, i woke up with a pulled muscle and couldn't move my neck, i found out a did bad on my calc midterm, and then my girlfriend dumped me on AIM.

damn, being dump is bad enough.. but being dumped over AIM is just like adding a grain of salt into the open wound.

Nobody cares what GPA you have/had. The only employer that MIGHT care is a teaching job.

I finished my first semester about 2 1/2 months ago (we have weird semesters, its a co-op school. work for 3 months, then school for 3 months linky) and I got a WAG (weighted average grade) of 87. Not too bad I think. Thats a B+ here. My employer doesnt care about grades much but they do see them. I am sure that if I started failing they would fire me or something. Some of the kids from school work at GM and they require a minimum WAG of 85 in ALL your classes. Glad I dont work there :)

But an employer will probably care if he loses his scholarship money, can no longer attend college, and ends up living in a cardboard box under a freeway onramp.

Ouch. :(

Yeah, that seems like the normal way they do it at major universities. It can be a good, and bad thing. Just get the hell of AT and start studying. speakin of which, I need to take my own advice.....

Well thats odd. Considering that minorities and women in order to get the same high profile job as a white male normally have a HIGHER amount of education.

My dad attended 4 years of college at Seoul University (the cream of the crop of colleges in Korea), and had to attend another 4 years of college at Cal State LA when he came to America.

You think minorities have it easier?
Frickin ignorant dumb@ss.

It's only challenging if a 70 average is a C.

I'm sure if a white guy went to that college the same would have happened. No one know one here knows of the college so he might as well gone to the community college.

It's only challenging if a 70 average is a C.

70 is a D+, no curve. Gotta have 75 for a C. Considering at least a quarter of the class dropped, I think it's true that he is one of the hardest profs on campus.
