I"ve been wanting to upgrade to a 27" 1440p or 4k G-Sync supported monitor from a 23" 1080p 60Hz monitor. 27" is the maximum size my desk has space for. I've been considering these two monitors listed below:

Is the 4k version one worth the extra $50 even if I might have to scale up "Make everything bigger" in Windows 10 to the equivalent of 1440p at 100% on a 27" screen? I have an RTX 4090 graphics card, so performance should not be an issue with current 4k gaming.

I recently tried out the Asus XG27UCS that was on sale and it had a white uniformity issue that I could easily notice while web browsing and white backgrounds so I returned it for a refund.

I would hate to have to sit close enough to a 27" monitor to notice the difference between 4K and 1440p, so before spending the money on the 4090 and one of these monitors, I'd get a larger desk to fit a larger monitor, or what about a mounting arm for the desk, or wall behind the desk?

Since these are at Best Buy, does the B&M have them hooked up so you can see for yourself? I agree that I don't think you'll see much difference at only 27".
