Down through the annals of time people have paid more for tested overclocked CPUs. I bought, tested, and sold a bunch overclocked 366s back in the day. He is doing nothing wrong except for the Redline name stuff. He has got over 600 positive reviews with only one neutral, so obviously he must be testing well.

Not that I think it is right to do but is it really a crime to make up a name for a product brand? My local toyota dealer sells a Tacoma sport that they call "blackout edition" which is just a slightly modified Tacoma with blacked outed lights, seats, exhaust ect.. but still just a Tacoma.

Most of us here probably want to help clueless buyers but we really can't babysit and hold everyones hands.

If someone wants to spend hundreds of dollars on something that they don't really know about, they share some responsibility. I find it strange that someone that can operate the web/ebay and purchase items dont know how to do a simple google search to check whether what they're buying is legit or not.

If he made it clear this was a name he was giving to the CPUs he binned and "certified," and not photoshopping the chip, not implying a warranty, etc., then I probably wouldn't have an issue with it. Bottom line, if you're binning chips it wouldn't be hard to write a clear, honest auction that explained what you were doing. I don't think this one was an example of a clear, honest auction.

i dropped intel a line to have a look at his auction. implying the redline is some sort of special edition doesn't seem quite right...
