Is this insurance fraud?

My house was broke into, and lots of stuff was stolen, more than what the limits on my insurance covers. I have replacement value insurance. The insurance company is depreciating the value of my (former) property, unless I replace it, than they reimberse me for the actual cost to replace.

Its kind of a pain in the butt that I have to buy everything right now, rather than wait and buy it at my own convieniance, and when I can find it on sale/cheap. But if I wait to long to purchase, than I can't submit a claim for the actual replacement cost.

My plan? Can I buy stuff now, send a copy of my reciept to the insurance company for reimbersement, and than return the item for a refund? I would keep the money to purchase replacement stuff as I find it on sale/cheap, thus allowing me to replace more of the items stolen from my house than if I paid full price for everything.

Is this legal or would that be construed as fraud?

I'm surprised you were smart enough to create a 2nd user name considering how moronic that question is.

Why do you care if it's cheap or on sale, if the ins co is paying full replacement cost? And if it's not convenient to buy now, then wouldn't it be even less convenient to buy it all now, return it, then buy it all again later on?

What difference does it make if you can find a good price if they're reimbursing you for the full cost?
