That is the weirdest thing I've ever seen---the scroll bar for that page is on the left instead of the right! That's freaky! Never seen anything like it!

Oh, and the hippo thing was pretty strange too.

1. Because hippos are notoriously and violently territorial.
2. Because hippos are omnivores, and would be more likely inclined to steal that calf as food.
3. Because most animals don't typically care about the survival of other animals of different species...much less Genus, Order, Family, etc...
4. Because most animals aren't altruistic, to where they would place themselves in danger for the well being of another, even of their own species..or even pack/pride/whatever
5. Because most animals don't understand the basics of CPR and First Aid. *credit to Alienwho*

Not to mention the whole CPR attempt.

Well your list is basically wrong.

1. Hippos can run faster than Carl Lewis and jump higher than Sergei Bubka
2. Hippos can be mean, but can also be very cool and make great pets for children
3. Hippos only care about their side - if you aren't with the hippos you are against them
4. Hippos feel no sense of fear or danger since they are responsible for more deaths and injuries per year than all other mammals and AIDS combined
5. Hippos can pretty much learn anything and that includes CPR and ninjitsu

link? I used to study Southern Mantis Kung Fu, and that is part of the origins of how it began actually. This prince got beat up, and he saw the mantis kill the humming bird and yadda yadda yadda, pretty neat story and all.

edit: link to mantis

'cept the hippo was never in any danger. A hippo can bite a croc in half, and the croc's teeth couldn't penetrate the hippo's skin.
