Crucial makes good memory. Just run memtest86 (overnight) to make sure it's not defective.

which type is it? if it is the tracer, and it was made in the last 6 months or so, you might want to have your friend run memtest86 on it for a day or 2 to make sure it isnt defective before you guys do the trade. tracer ram has been getting a lot of bad batches this year for some reason, and it has filtered down into the balisticx somewhat as well, though not nearly to the extent of the tracer. crucial usually makes good ram over all though, and their value ram doesnt exhibit this behavior as far as i know. im using a 2x1gb kit of balisticx in a comp right now and it runs fine, though it wont run stable at its specified clock (1066) worth a damn, no matter what latency or voltage i set it to. currently running it at about 900MHz (i forget what exactly) in a 680i mobo
