Forums come and go. I've been a member of other forums that have died, some more quickly than this one. But many others are going just as strong as ever.

IMO, other types of social media have little to do with it. This forum just doesn't have much to offer new members. There are better tech forums, better places to buy and sell gear, even better forums for mostly random topics.

I suspect a lot of people that added flavor to the forums got banned over the years eventually you end up with a vanilla safe echo chamber.

Forum doesnt seem to attract new users. most active posters are old veterans who joined since the pre 2010s from what i can tell.(I give you one bonus point for every posters who joined after 2010s you can spot in this thread)

For newer generation millennial like me, it is a bit of let downs. Perhaps go check out the forum by linus tech tips. same focus on technology but more vibrant demographics.

To be honest, i wouldnt be here if not for the fact i was banned by both tom's hardware and linus tech tips 😛
