I put a frozen filet of salmon out to thaw, in a ziplock bag with the air sucked out, in my sink last night around 5pm. I fuckin forgot about it until about 1:30pm today and at that time put it in the fridge.

I'm thinkin it's no good now. 🙁 What say you?

Really? I guess I could just go to the store and get another one but I hate to waste something that's good.

Anymore thoughts?

You can tell the freshness of a fish by smelling it. You also ought be defrosting fish in your refrigerator rather than outside in your sink.

I just smelled it and it has the normal fishy smell but it kinda stanks. I usually would defrost the fish (or meat) in the sink for a couple hours just to speed up the process and then stick it in the fridge, but maybe just doing it earlier and keeping it in the fridge is better. Thanks.

I tossed it. Gonna have to find another fillet cause this recipe is awesome. 😀

Toss it. Its not worth the consequences.

QFT. Get food poisoning and you'll be willing to pay hundreds of dollars to go back in time and not eat the old fish.

I enjoyed this thread more because of the word stank.

"Stank" is so much more a better word to describe something that smells bad than "stink" is. Just the sound of it... "stank".
