No, its a tank. A howitzer cannot transport itself....

But I still have no idea if its real or not.

Howitzers can be mounted, example is the Paladin Self-propelled Howitzer.

It's an elephant launcher!

Most modern howitzers are mounted on a 'tank' chasis. They can only fire one round and then must be moved and quickly at that! The enemy will track the projectile with radar and send 'counter battery fire' to the point the round was shot from. All this takes just seconds. One shot and you move!

This assumes there are two opposing foes with modern weapons. Counter battery fire was perfected in WWII.

You're all wrong. It's a silencer.

good call. surpressor.

That is is. I've seen this picture before somewhere (I am guessing one of those weapons magazines I used to read) and I remember that it is a silencer.

according to the filename of the pic it's a silencer

it's a german tank (whatever it is) so I guess it's real because shooting such things in germany can usually not be done (too poulated) so maybe this device is used for testing in germany? dunno

Our tank crews went to Canada for live shooting as there is no live shooting in Germany (only plastic rounds into the baltic sea)
