Is this fair in Fantasy Football? Commish in league wants to reverse trade.

Its just a game right? Who really cares. I'm 3-1 now, the other guy is 1-3. Its just too bad that we dont play in the regular season. Heres to hoping that we meet in the playoffs.

I'll drop the request to have the trade reversed and we can go on from there.

Could some of you FF guys give me your input on this situation? I posted in the "official" FF thread but would like to get some more input.

I'm in a league that was formed here in ATOT. The commissioner proposed a trade earlier this week.

I got:
Plaxico Burress
Steve Smith

He got:
Carson Palmer
Braylon Edwards

Now that Palmer is out today he asked for me to reverse the trade. I thought he was joking and rejected the trade. Now he's posted a Commissioner's Note:

Everyone I need your vote on the trade that was completed this week between my team (Parcell's Jap Plays) and Yzzimians.

I had proposed the trade because I was desperate for a QB and overpaid a bit to get one. The trade was slightly in the advantage of Yzzim but I was OK with it as I was getting the QB I needed.

It was reported today that Palmer would miss todays game and quite possibly more with an injury. The main reason for makeing the trade was for the QB. The trade now looks like Burress/Smith for B.Edwards which is clearly one sided.

I am putting the trade up to a vote to the owners here. If you feel it is too one sided then I can reverse the trade and the players will be returned to their rosters. I would need a majority vote (7) to overturn the deal.

Now I know some of you may say tough crap - injuries happen and whatnot. If that is the case then I would urge that maybe the two owners can work out another deal to compensate for the QB being hurt. Maybe trade Burress back in return for another WR or something.

I will not make any changes until the league decides. I will give it until 11:30pm Saturday next week to make the decision.

Thanks!

Now I don't play FF much, this is my second year playing. Is this normal? It doesn't seem fair, IMO. He proposed the trade, I accepted, and as commissioner he has to allow the trade to happen, which he did. Now he wants to reverse it. It just sounds very unfair.

The commish is a fucking douche bag. A trade is a trade. he needs to live with it. This is not a democracy.

Wow, what a terrible commissioner for your league. That is just sad and amateurish.....could this commish be say, 10 years old? His loss....things happen in the NFL fast. One day they are healthy the next they are out for a few weeks.

If the commish reads this stop being such a little sally whiner.

 He's complaining about a "one-sided" trade that he proposed. It sucks that he got screwed but that's life.

I posted the link to this thread in our league. I see he's online so I'm sure he'll make a visit.

Hey guys I'm the commish here and wanted to chime in.

First off I offered the trade because I had a surplus of WRs and needed a quality QB because Garrard has been struggling. I looked over some of the rosters and saw that Yzzim had Edwards (which I liked) and Palmer who has been struggling but thought he would turn things around especially after his good showing against the Giants last week.

However, I did not read any reports that said he was hurt and was going to have an MRI on his shoulder. If I had read those reports then I definitely would not have made the offer. I had emailed Yzzim asking to trade back the players and he refused. I then asked him to atleast do the right thing and take back one of my lesser WRs (Vin. Jackson, SD) instead of two top flight WRs for the injured Palmer. He refused that as well.

Our league does not have the option of letting the owners veto/approve trades. I changed the option that the commish review the trades so it speeds the process up and teams can use players that week if a trade is done mid week. Since that is not an option I asked the league to overturn the trade IF THEY FELT IT WAS UNFAIR. I said if the majority (7 teams) felt it was an unfair trade then it would be overturned; if not then it would stick. I was NOT going to just reverse the trade or whatever.

Anyways, since I am being salty and whining then I guess no matter what I write here will change any minds. There have been 3 votes against the trade and I believe 4 votes for the trade so obviously I am not the only one that feels the trade is unbalanced. If I had made a trade in another league knowingly that one of the players involved was injured I would have atleast said something or tried to make things right instead of just trying to scam someone.

The trade was not one-sided when it was proposed. If it became one-sided before it was accepted, he could argue that he didn't have a chance to cancel the trade in time before you accepted it. I assume it was not a one-sided trade when you accepted it?

All that means is that there are others that are as big a dick as you are.

In our league, the Commish has final say on whether to allow the trade or not. Not only did he Propose the trade to me, but agreed to it again after I had accepted it. He ultimately had the final say (being the commish) on whether to allow the trade or not.

If Yzzim wants to help you out, that's his choice. You should not use your power as Commish to try to swing things in your favor and get this trade reversed. This should not be left up to a group vote. It was your responsibility to research the trade adequately before it was done.

Cliffs: Quit being a bitch and abusing your power.

Your fault for not staying informed, especially when there was a trade on the line.

Bottom line, its YOUR responsibility to check their status in the league before you click the 'accept trade' button!!!! There are no do overs....this ain't grade school.

So it sounds like you knew it was a one-sided trade but he didn't (making an assumption since you didn't actually answer my question). Not really cool on your part, but all is fair in love and war.

On the other hand, assume that the commissioner wasn't involved in the trade, but he did approve it because he didn't realize it was one-sided (assuming again that it was one-sided at the time the trade was completed). One-sided trades are generally not allowed to prevent someone from boosting another coach. If it involved another coach, do you think the commissioner would have been right to reject the trade?

On the other other hand, I googled around and it sounded like on Friday he was expecting to play, thus it doesn't sound like a serious long-term injury. If it's just a one or two week thing, it's not a one-sided trade. If it's a season-ending injury, it's a one-sided trade.

what????I told my gf to pick a person for me to drop b/c i was a WR shorta nd told her to drop a bye player. i thought she would have known that I want to get rid of Marvin harrison (it was the first on the bye list).... She dropped Maroney (last on my bye list) for Miles Austin. Was that even at all? I probably could have got a better third sport reciever from a trade. Infact, when people see that on the woire, they are probably going to call me dumb. Am i gonna bitch? No. i am gonna man up and just deal with it. Stop being a baby. reviewing trade is not there to stop stupidity. It's there to stop people from stacking up on positions.

Pick someone off the wire next time.

A trade is a trade period, anything less and the commish should resign his team asap.

The ONLY reason a commish should EVER review a trade is if one player is stacking a friend or has given up and is basically "giving" away top players. It is a safeguard measure for possible cheating NOT to be confused with "Oh shit I didnt read anything about the player Im getting".

Reversing this trade would ensure I never played FF with that commish again and would likely just quit the leauge all together. A commish is not a dictator and does not wield the power to do as they like or as would benefit them.

You offer a trade
It's accepted
Those are YOUR players.
