Is this enough? *UPDATED*

I am building a new computer for my 65in tv. I want to know if this single card will do it for the res. EVGA 512-P2-N773-AR GeForce 8600GTS 512MB ?

Well, what will you be using your TV for? If it's gaming, then no, that won't be enough. For gaming at 1080p, you'll want one of the new high-end cards; 2900XT, 8800GTS, or 8800GTX.

I don't see why the 8600GTS shouldn't be enough. It should be able to handle any game that's out at the moment in atleast close-to-full graphics in 1080p... Correct me if i'm wrong.

I'd make sure it supports the resolution and grab it, then wait for the next line of single-slot high-end cards to come.

If you can do with it taking up two slots, the Radeon HD2900XT has HDMI with built in sound.

The 8600gts kinda sucks, it's below the 1950xt in performance, and with that card you are gonna get in trouble gaming at resolutions that high. Unless you don't mind turning down all the eyecandy, but what person in his right mind buys a 1500$ or more screen and doesn't wanna spend 260$ or so on at least a half decent card for that resolution, a 8800gts 320mb. But he wants single slot. Sucks. Don't build microatx?

So go with a full atx? and get what kind of card? I wanted matx because I was going to place it behind the tv that and the fact I have never built one of those only atx

1080p is 1920x1080. That's a lot of pixels. The 8600GTS would have trouble with even 2004/2005 games like Doom 3 and FEAR at high settings. Medium settings, maybe, depending on the game.

Ok so would I need a dual card config or just one powerful card for this to work? I have 2 pci-e x16 slots to work with. So let me know.

Well Im looking to play fear graw(2) I am going to be running vista on it but that is probably the least demanding. I also have cellfactor and things like that I already have the physx card for that but still they require a good card as well. But I want it to look as nice as possibile on the 65in screen
