Is this enough muscle to play C&C Generals?

not on high details and 1280x1024. my friend has the same mx440 and a 2600xp and can run it on low details at decent framerates.

mx440s (mx series in general) were some of the worst cards ever built

They might not have been the best, but they got the job done.

COMPLETE BS.

a radeon 9000 pro does 1280X960 at max details with 16Xaf, so a 9600 non pro will as well.

so youre saying that you can run the game at 50-60 fps at max resolution and details on the R9000? Let me know when that works...

ive played the game since it came out kiddo. It is a strategy game and needs no more then 35-40fps. And btw, it has an fps limit of 55, so forget needing anything much faster. the game is more cpu then gpu dependant.

and it is a 9000 pro 128mb, not a non pro, there is like a 30% performance diff there.

Ive played on a 9600 10*7 full details. 40FPS. The game is capped at 40FPS so nothing to worry about. not to mention the AA and AF that you can turn on also.

Yes, you CAN play it comfortably on a 9600 non-pro. How do I know? I set-up to of my friends' machines with Powercolor Radeon 9600SE's and it runs very smooth. But it gets choppy sometimes when there are too many characters on the map and you don't have enough ram.

I played Painkiller on an MX420 with the 128 bit memory bus 😉 Don't doubt!
