Is this considered irony?

Yesterday, I forgot the password to my bitcoin wallet which has ~3 BTC in it.

I keep on trying and trying different combos which I thought would be it but nothing would work. I didn't write it down anywhere.

To keep myself from continuing to try, as it was getting to be really frustrating and time consuming, I deleted the wallet and empty my recycle bin.

Today, I found out that I did write it down somewhere. It was very well hidden. Indeed, I had written it down inside Namecoin settings when I was configuring Namecoin a few months ago. There is a space inside the Namecoin where you type in your pw.

Attempts to recover the file not successful using Recuva.

Cliffs:
Need both file and password for program to work.
Yesterday: Got file, but no password.
Today: Got password, but no file.

Does it fit the definition of irony or am I using irony wrong?

That's about $27? Why would you delete something valuable that doesn't take much room? You could have had an epiphany and remembered your password, or maybe just found it written somewhere...

The definition that word snobs use requires you to purposely misuse a word. In that sense, no this is not irony.

Then there is comedic irony. This describes the Alanis Morissette song. But, again, that requires humor. This incident is not humorous. So that is not irony.

since you bring up bitcoin. Ive always wondered how it works. I have read about it but still dont quite understand.

How do you get paper money turned into BC? or does it never really transfer and its all digital and just symbolizes as currency? And what practical use does BC have? Everything I see it associated with is shady deep web stuff.

Bitcoin have a current market cap of over $100 miliion. You can convert fiat currency into it using an exchange such as mtgox as well as vice versa.

Perfect for buying illegal contraband online. Of course, I can't believe people have some of that stuff SHIPPED to your house... I'd never trust it.

Not ironic but have you tried praying for the wallet file to be restored? If you did, and it worked, and you used the BTC to purchase Satanic child porn, that would be a little ironic.

Time to start the bit coin mining farm. 😛

I've been thinking of getting on this gravy train. I have to read up more on it.

It was much more profitable a long while ago. Now I'm not sure if it would even pay for its cost in power consumption.

The only thing I'd ever use bitcoin for is to "mine" the coins and sell them for real money to go buy a cheeseburger or something 😛
