It's probably worth it, since 1GB of ram runs about $100 (or a bit less), the X2 CPus go for about $300, 250GB drives are around $100 (or a bit less), a cheap power supply, chassis, DVD burner etc all add up to another $100 or more ... etc

My concern would be the limits on the chasis & the limits on the motherboard.
Is the 1 PCI-E slot that's available one of those x16 slots that can be used for a video card, or is it one of those nurfed motherboards that you can't upgrade the video to a REAL video card with?
Do you want more room for expansion then the 2 pci slots offered?
Do you need room for more drives then the chassis provided?
Will the power supply give you adequate power?

I'm getting it for $500 straight, no rebates....and NOT from Worst Buy. Private party transaction.

My spare eVGA 7800GT will suffice. =)

The PCI-Express slot is x16. The motherboard chipset is an ATI RS482. It's an ASUS A8AE-LE motherboard.

Well ... it sounds like a VERY good bargain at 500 bones.
If you have a use for it and if it's in your budget ... then go for it.
