Is this common?

I have got the Comcast cable here. Computer A is wired to the router, getting 1800-1900K speed. Computer B is wirelessly connected to the router, getting 1300-1400k speed.
Why do I loss speed on the wireless connection? Signals are excellent according to XP. I used WEP, is that the cause? If I disable it, and use MAC filtering instead, will it help speed up the wireless connection?

The wireless connection, even with WEP enabled and the overhead from that, is far faster than your cable connection. It's doubtful that changing it will change the speeds. But you can always try.

Wireless performance is affected by the processing power of the chipset used in the router. Some are just slightly slower. WEP might be slowing it down a bit due to that.

If WEP is the cause, it's probably best that you continue using WEP along with MAC filtering. Plenty of people willing to just use your bandwidth if you leave it open.
