Yea the numbers match from the email to the paperwork that came with the drive, the only thin there is an extra 0 on the email that is not on the paperwork ??
Other than that it is the exact same number ..

I just do not want to sends it back and have them charge me for the difference or whatever as I opted for them to send the replacement one first and then send mine back after so I had to give my mastercard number to have them send the replacement first..

I brought my '97 Civic in for a scheduled maintenance, and they gave me an '06 Hybrid in return. Go figure...

This is my first time with maxtor and I have had many of thier drives without a problem as I gave up on on W.D. many moons ago due to craptastic drives...

sadly, i agree. i am not a big fan of maxtor, and would stay away from purchasing them at any cost (unless for ebaying purposes). my friend had a sony viao computer with a like a 12 or 13gb hd (i forgot which size). it dies, we rma, and recieve an 18gb drive. then later, it dies, we rma, and we get a 30gb drive. then it dies, but rma period was over. i told him to get a seagate instead.

They just grab what's on the shelf.

I got a 80gb drive back when I RMA'd my 40gb Deathstar.

I RMA'd a 160gb drive to Maxtor and recieved, in return... A 160gb drive that had markings indicating that it had been refurbished TWICE.

Anyone can say the same to each of the hard drive manufacturers.
