Even though it's intention was not aimed at being racist I think it's hard to ignore the fact that it could be construed as racist.

Well whoever drew it knew how it would be taken, as did the editors and everyone else who saw it before it got published. I don't doubt there are some dimwits on ATOT who honestly couldn't see the overtones to it. But if a whole slew of newspaper and magazine people let it fly over their heads, they need to be in a new business. It was intentional, even if it wasn't meant to be racist every person involved knew good and damn well how a lot of people would take it.
