**Before i begin, this post is dead serious. Please do not delete or lock this thread.**

**pretence**
18 year old heterosexual male
NOT sexually active
no history of anal problems in family (that i know of)
i could be deemed as a "sunday pooper"...once a week "dumper", more than once if i eat certain foods
**story**
About two months ago, i noticed some minor bleeding after wiping after going to the bathroom. I didn't think anything of it, considering that it felt like it was *bigger* and could have possibly stretched out the walls of my anus or some other area back there. It happened again that week, but it was only after wiping that i noticed it. This went on 1/2 times that i'd goto the bathroom and wipe...it started to bother me seeing as something like this has never happened before.

Early this week, blood actually dripped into the toilet. I was scared..big time. I wiped thinking that it would go away, but it kept bleeding. This isn't a massive amount of blood, but it was like a leaky faucet....small irritating drips (but no pain) that wouldn't stop. I wiped one last time (thinking that it wouldn't stop) and let it dry up naturally (by clotting?). It happened again today...i went to the bathroom, felt some *minor* pain as i passed a stool, and noticed again a slight dripping of blood in the toilet. I tried to wipe to stop the bleeding, but there was a small and slow drip.

I have new insurance and haven't met my new doctor yet, and i'm kinda nervous to bring this up in our first visit. Is this normal or could i have some kind of infection/disease?

thanks a million

Dont be nervous about bringing this up to the doc. After this, all the future visits should be cake.

no bleeding is 'normal' (unless you're a female obviously).

talk to your doctor. doesn't matter if its your first visit. its his job.

thank you for the link. I checked webmd.com, but it basically said, "get to the doctor immediately". Your link at least reassured me that it's not the most uncommon thing in the world.

Its possible you might have colitis or Crohn's disease. You need to inform your doctor and he will possibly have you do an colonoscopy to make sure.

Those are possible but usually include cramps and diarrhea, neither of which he states he has.
I'd bank on it being torn tissue.

SEE A FVCKING DOCTOR!

You shouldn't be nervous to bring this up at the first visit. It's not like you have to try and get them into bed. They are your doctor, they probably know that you've had other doctors before them, so it's perfectly fine to tell them what's wrong on the first visit.

Why people wait for their arms to fall off, then come here on AT and ask if it's normal by typing with their feet is beyond me.

So when your anus falls out, are you going to be thankful that you avoided that 30 seconds of embarassment?

Edit: Are you sure you're not a woman? :p

From the description the bleeding sounds to be external, not internal, if it were internal (more serious) there would be blood on the product and there would not be any dripping, my vote is for an anal fissure or irritated gluteal polyp.

Yep your absolutly right. Its also possible that it might be hemorrhoids. Its possible for some inflamed tissue in there to 'burst' releasing a little blood.
But either way, you should ask your doctor about it.

I'll echo the others and emphasize seeing a doctor. It's easy to wait and hope that it goes away, or to pretend that it's not there, but waiting now could turn into something more serious later. More than likely, it's just something small and easy to fix though. :)

I'd also recommend more fiber in your diet. While that sort of thing does vary from individual to individual, I think a "once a week" routine is a bit unhealthy (your doctor could tell your for sure, however). I've read that once a day to once every other day indicates a very happy body.

First off, go see a doctor!

Just out of curiosity, do you eat alot of spicy foods and/or caffeine?

I had hemmorrhoids when I was a little younger (about 15), and I'm 19 now, and I guess I have the same problem as you are describing. I don't really eat a whole lot compared to most people, which is sorta unhealthy, I guess, but for a while last year, I was going to the bathroom maybe once or twice a week, and I was bleeding. It gradually stopped, but came back just slightly recently. At one point, I thought it could be Crohn's Disease, which my dad has, but it's just hemmorrhoids.

Anyway, I'd recommend seeing your doctor about this. My doctor is my mom's cousin, so trust me, it felt a little weird to describe your symptoms to a doctor you knew personally, but really, doctors are professionals about this thing. You've got to tell them the truth about your symptoms to be diagnosed correctly. Don't be embarrassed or anything, this is what they're trained to do.

What a forum! Where else can you go to talk about rectal problems but one of the most popular computer enthusiast forums on the internet?

Good luck, hope it's nothing too bad.

i don't eat a LOT of spicy foods, but i do eat them on occasion like any other food. As for caffeine, i was addicted to coke for a long time. Then i switched to diet coke. I realized i was addicted and decided to stop for a month and a half. I got back on coke/diet coke about 2 months ago (now that i think of it, the timing is coincidental....) and i drink a couple 20 ounces of coke/diet coke a day. I've been trying to go a day or two without pop, but the withdrawl symptoms are bad and i'm usually untolerable at work...i'm cranky, pushy, tired and seem to exhibit sure signs of PMS.
AND..i've been getting headaches lately...once or twice a week now. Nothing that a couple aspirin won't cure

*for what it's worth*
my usual diet:
breakfast (if i eat): either a pack of pop-tarts or two bagels with little butter and a diet coke
lunch: used to be pizza almost everyday, but now it's subway/Arbys/McDs/Taco Bell
dinner: whatever mom's cooking.

Goto doctor...not quite need for a trip to the ER though, unless you are crapping chunks o blood or it just wont stop.

I had a similar problem, a few hours in the ER, and I was "patched", after getting poked with needles, probed with devices, and having a curtain next to some OD'ed druggie..erg. I wished I took care of it the day I noticed it instead of doing the man thing of "one time only, it'll fix....."
