Is this (Auria) one of the Korean Apple Cinema monitors?

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0384780

I found some threads, on other forums, stating that it is just like the other Korean S-ISP glossy 27'' monitors on Ebay but has more inputs but when I called a Microcenter, I was told that it has a matte screen when I asked. I repeated matte, and asked, "do you mean an anti-glare coating?" The lady replied, "yes, it has an anti-glare matte screen, not glossy."

Different version or lady, or more likely the notes*, she was reading, are wrong?

* the ad's notes state that it has on-screen controls for calibration but messages I read stated that it does not.

There is another thread about this, I think the title includes "$399" something or other if you want to search for it.

However, what do you mean by something being wrong with the lady?

Seems a good deal but after reading reviews on New Egg for other Auria monitors, I do not get the impression that they are good quality. Anyone have experience?

I have this monitor. Got it a few weeks ago. So far I have been very impressed with it. It has pretty much all modern inputs on it. The stand is cheap but serviceable. Out of the box it looked pretty darn good. No dead pixels and no backlight bleeding. Also, the built in scaler is great if you want to hook up a console or laptop.

Some minor cons: the dvi input is a total pain to get to, it takes about 10 seconds or so to change resolutions (this is a minor quibble), and the glossy screen can be a pain if you have a room with a lot of natural light.

Overall, so far I love this monitor. Can't beat the price, warranty, and you have 10 days to return it if there are any problems.

I think technically the Korean ones on ebay have a warranty too... Only catch is you have to ship it back to Korea :p

too bad I don't have a microcenter within 800+ miles near me.

I am thinking of buying one, my hesitation is how long my video card could do ultra settings in games at that resolution. I have GTX680 and I assume it could do well at that resolution now but worried that new games might not allow ultra settings with a 680 at that resolution and therefore I would either have to get a new card sooner and/or turn down settings in the future in which case I would rather have 1920X1080 with ultra settings that this higher resolution with lower settings.

So how long do you think a 680 could power this as opposed to how long it would do ultar settings at 1920X1080?

I'm currently running one of the Korean Catleaps, and I'll tell you this. 1 680 is NOT enough for 2560x1440 smoothly even with the current games of today maxed out. BF3 has massive slowdowns maxed out with 1 680. I'm running 4 680s atm, but when I disabled SLI just to see the difference, it was nearly unplayable. Unplayable is different for some than others, but to me, dipping to 30fps is damn near unplayable in a multiplayer FPS.

Thank you for the warning. I was worried about that. I think I will stick with 1920X1080 for a new monitor.

general consensus is at that resolution (2560x1440) you don't need to use things like anti aliasing etc.

What about AF and TF filtering on high etc.? Plus I hate zaggies, you sure no AA is needed?

Anyone played games on this? Some reports of lag on the [H] thread. I'm also wondering what the total height of just the screen is, without the stand. Wondering if I can make this fit under my hutch (~18.5").

Also, this thing has a scaler, right? So I can play games at lower resolutions if my 6950 can't handle it.

af you'd probably still need. But at that resolution, things seem less jaggy, so less of a need for aa.

all personal preference of course, but you can kind of cheat a little at that high of resolution.

I disagree i am using one at 2560x1440 ress max settings on games with no issues witha a GTX 670. On BF 3 i am getting 60 FPS + with shadows turned down one notch and have not hit any slowdown and this is with a older i7.

Future maybe a issue but can always SLI then.

At least get a 1920x1200 - how about the Hanspree 28" or you had may as well get a 32" 1080p TV.
Any monitor larger than 23" @1080p=FAIL
