I love to run. I run 5k every day at lunch if I can. But my problem is that if it is less than 60 degrees outside, my upper chest/lower throat seems to tighten up during the first mile. I wouldn't say that it makes it harder to breath, but I seem to get winded faster. After that first mile it seems like I warm up and I am OK.

If I run with a long sleeve t-shirt on that fits well (not too loose) I can run better. I think that it is because I'm keeping my chest warmer. I have been able to run outside as low as 25-30 degrees if I keep a sweatshirt on that keeps my chest warm. But if that gets cold, I struggle.

Is this asthma or is it normal?

it could be a couple things:
- eibs (exercise induced bronchospasm)/exercise induced asthma
- the muscles around your rib cage aren't as relaxed as they can be because of the temperature, so they kinda restrict your chest expansion unless the muscles warm up

both are possible.
