I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Gigabyte motherboard above and other hardware and these power supplies? The video card requires at least 550W. Apparently 1000-1100W power supplies are only needed for something like a Quad SLI configuration. Should I aim for a 550W-700W power supply? Thanks.

Finally, I assume the 20+4 pin power supplies are compatible with the 24 pin motherboard. Also, the 1000-1100 watts seems like plenty of power for the graphics card and the processor. Thoughts and comments welcome.

Both links not working, and I can't see your specs either. For a normal, 1 videocard rig, 500w will do. Like a 450/550vx or 520hx from Corsair.

fix your links... but either way i can say that 1000W is going to be overkill for a single gpu set up.

I assume you're going to somehow run quad SLI with 8800 ultras if you're looking at a 1100W PSU. Yeah that'll be enough.

Just buy this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...E16817139001&Tpk=520hx it's plenty of power for your rig, modular, and very high qaulity. SLI is not an option for you, x38 doesn't support it, and probably will never support it either, because Nvidia wants to have those exclusive capabilities on their 780i boards. So you will never need more power then that. Unless you sell the 8800ultra and want to go with crossfire ? If that's not the case, just buy the 520hx.

If you for some reason want 750w of power, then you'll have to spend 130$ or more to get a good unit, like thise on http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817171024 or a etasis 750w. Prolly better deals to be had then on newegg.com though, the coolermaster real power pro has been going for 50-75$ AR on several sites lately.
