Is this amount of paint / clear coat fade normal for 10 years?

Honda paint is shit. Every Honda/Acura I have owned or my family has owned has started oxidizing/failing within 6-8 years. All of them have had annual waxing, at minimum. The list of cars we've owned includes:

1996 Integra - red (oxidation)
2000 Odyssy - grey (spiderwebbing)
2001 CL - green (oxidation)
2005 TL - grey (spiderwebbing)
2008 civic - blue (oxidation)

The Toyotas, BMWs, Mercedes, and Mazdas haven't had any issues.

Could it be BECAUSE you did annual waxing?

You do realize when you wax the car you take off layer of clearcoat/paint right?

: D

What you said is true though, Honda's paint is kind of crappy. But they are not the only one.....

Well, the waxing would have nothing to do with the spiderwebbing, which is under the clear coat.

As for the oxidation (due to clear-coat failure/loss) I never used cleaner waxes on my cars (with the exception of my 86 RX7 because the white paint needed it). I only used finishing waxes and did it by hand because I didn't trust myself with a polisher... the exception being, late in their life-spans, I added the clay-bar to the routine to get the grime off. But that was after issues had already started.

True, I'm just going off of what I've seen first hand. Overall, Lexus has far and away the best paint of any major manufacturer that I've seen.

My GF has a 2011 Fit and its doing OK for being garaged outside in FL for its entire life. The clearcoat is intact but it has faded and has some weird blotchy areas. Though there are quite a few hondas in this part of the country with shitty paint.

Nissan paint to me was the worst. On my parents I30 it faded, spider webbed and the clear coat wore through terribly within 5 years.

I just went car buying again, this time in Melbourne. Saw another red Honda Fit, year 2004 with only 80k miles on it. Same thing. Paint fade and chipping on the plastic sideview mirrors and paint fade all over the hood, roof, etc.

I ended up going with a black 2006 2-door Yaris hatchback with 80K miles for $3,000 USD. Seats fold down completely flat (with big gaps you have to stuff with bags of clothes) for sleeping, and the weird thing is that the length of space in the trunk is the same as the 4-door. I thought it would be smaller.
