If you're stupid, you might construe it as racist, but anyone with two brain cells to rub together will just acknowledge it as a commercial that's slightly better than average.

Who is saying that it's racist?

I really don't get the fried chicken and watermelon thing. I think it makes for a great meal combo myself.

What I got out of it is a statement about the consistency of KFC's flavor in disparate parts of the world. It also hinted at KFC being widespread enough across the world that it's ad campaign about being "finger lickin' good" can be communicated and understood across language barriers.

And you can guarantee that the only people saying it's racist is in America. Most other countries don't have this freaking problem with calling everything racist. People always seem to have to bring race in everything here.

Doesn't seem racist. Agree, with above.

The thing is that pretty much anything can be turned racist or sexist or mean based on the intent behind it, including generalities about food "preferences"...

Remember Sergio and Fuzzy took shots at Tiger- http://www.sbnation.com/golf/2013/5/24/4360842/tiger-woods-fuzzy-zoeller-fried-chicken-sergio-garcia

That's because you guys equated black people loving fried chicken somehow. KFC is popular here though, so there may be some truth to it. :hmm:

Wouldn't this be more of a stereotype than racism. Hatred against a race not found.

Funny you mention that, I do have at true story. 3 co workers and I go to a KFC buffet (yes they exist). We are behind a family of what appears to be African American's. They take the last pieces of chicken from the buffet, so we sit down and wait. When the new tray arrives, they get up, we get up and are yet again behind them. They take every single piece of chicken off of the tray...nothing else mind you, one guy looks back at us knowing we are waiting on it and proceeds to take them all.

So we sit down again and the cashier sees this and takes the next tray directly to our table so we can get some, we had already been there for 30 minutes without any chicken.
Similar happened to me at a Ponderosa buffet and another time at a grocery store where a black guy took all 5 fried chicken platters from the deli as I stood in line. Take it however you want but I would guess that perhaps stories like this might be why some equate black people to loving fried chicken. I like it too but damn at least I'm considerate about it and actually eat something with it without being all greedy

That's Thailand.

Sadly racism exist in not just Thailand but all over Asia.

I know of Indian and African teachers who were denied a teaching position because of their color.

I had read that in South Korea a small child walked up to an African woman and quickly licked her arm. She said "you don't taste like chocolate."

If you were to take a look at a typical cosmetic department in Asia, you would notice facial creams that will bleach your skin white.

Here is a Dunkin Donuts commercial that was made in Thailand. It's gotten a lot of attention because supposedly it's racist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EOEk-RBLas

I guess it depends on location. Around here no one would throw a fit but everyone would definitely get a race related chuckle out of it.

You simply cannot associate black people with fried chicken because it would be considered racist. Ask Mary J. Blige about that. This video got pulled because it was also deemed "racist":

The irony being that only non-blacks can be seen enjoying chicken in commercials and media.

Racist is another word that is overused. As are a lot of other words.

It doesn't matter. Why does anyone care what anyone else considers racist? We humans are something else ...

What? Everybody knows that when Americans travel abroad, they spend all their time hanging out with other english-speaking expats and eating at local franchises of US chain restaurants.

Were they fat as well? I can't fathom eating so much greasy food at once. D:

I don't find that to be racist at all. I take it that they'll say that it has a reference to black face?

Close to racist (very stereotypical in the least) and they were playing it nonstop during the Olympics. Black women don't all act like that.
Isn't that the comedian from SNL? She only plays characters like that.
