system is 1.5 yrs old. dell vostro 400 intel core 2 duo @ 2.33 ghz, 2gigs memory, 256 mb gforce 8600 vid card. THE issue, dell has just replaced the vid card and im still getting lockups. However, im able to run the computer using the onboard vid card and i have no issues?? please advise whats going on. power supply is stock 300 watts..can this be an issue. Is it possible its the motherboard controller is not good or the power supply is not strong to run the vid card. thru speed fan utility i have a flame mark next to the gpu 58c...

PSU should be OK, but I'm just going on the output not the condition of it, it is possible that the PSU is on it's way out and the 8600 stresses it enougth to cause problems.

what drivers are you using? that could be the problem.

I would assume that if the IGP works fine then the rest of the PC should be OK.

i have tried changing drivers thru the dell website and still have problems. Im getting a blue scrreen error message with nv4 error code indicating nvidia software error code..even when i dont get that error code the computer will lockup when using the 256 mb card. omnboard vid is fine
