BTW, most everything looks good but I don't think the monitor you've chosen would be good for gaming: 25ms response is likely to cause ghosting.

For a gaming rig, nah. More like a budget gaming rig really. For a real gaming rig you'd up that to at least a 6800GT and a gig of RAM.

heh, that mobo was a $29 refurb from Newegg and has been running 24/7 for 1.5 years. I'd never even heard of Matsonic before I bought it, but it is a real champ.

Budget gaming almost 3 years ago was 9600, the 6600 is the budget card today. 9600 is barely usable now. You would be wasting your money getting it.

A 6600GT is just fine, definitely not budget, more like mid-end, however that video card won't work with that nForce3 rig, you'll need an nForce4 for PCIe.

What other card could possibly fit the role of budget card? The 6600GT is cheap and is only half as good as the best cards, which is exactly why it's called the budget card. It can't run games at hi res with AA and AF on, it's completely crippled, while other cards run fine. It is the budget card. Anything less is a waste and everything else is better. Nothing else fits closer to budget card.

You completely miss low end and outdated. 6200 is lowend, 6600 is budget, 6800GT is mid. If my video card spanks the 6800GT, which it does, then it can't be high end. Since when does midend cost $350? Since this generation. The cost doesn't mean it's high end, the performance decides it's place. The PC mag I subscribe to calls it a budget card, it plays like a budget card, it costs like a budget card... I don't see how hard it is for you to get this.
