I'm out visiting our LA office and the GM just asked me this:
"Do you have any plans tonight?"
"I do not."
"Do you want to hook up?"

Granted he's from Switzerland so there is a bit of a language barrier but I want to know how much of a raise to ask for before hand just in case...
 
It's probably a language barrier thing. I highly doubt your boss wants to fuck you and even if he did (yes, there are gay people in SoCal) I doubt he would just come right out and ask you.
 
Older people i think use that term without a sexual connotation involved. Is your office in West Hollywood?

It is not, but in Switzerland you learn German, French and English in school. My dad still has odd pronunciations and he's lived in the US since the 60's.

Do you speak German (Swiss-German)? Did you grow up in Switzerland? My friend grew up there, married an American and moved here for a few years, lived very close to us and we became good friends. Unfortunately, they moved back to Switzerland a couple years ago. We keep in touch though, they are coming out to visit next month for a week or so and we will have them over for drinks/dinner a couple times to catch up.

Can't wait to go visit them in Switzerland one of these days. They live about 20 minutes outside of Zurich.
 
I speak a touch of German (what I can remember from high school). I grew up in LA though.

Switzerland is a beautiful country. Unfortunately I haven't visited since '95 (I think that was the year). My dad is from Bern.

I had a cousin in Canada who dated a Swiss foreign exchange student and she really loved him. She finished her studies in Canada and had to move back to Switzerland. She came back twice to marry him and take him back to Switzerland. He said No. She is a lawyer for Swiss Air now.
