Is this a sign of bad sectors?

I'm reloading windows 2k on a junk pc that I have (HP Cellery 500, 64mb ram, integrated everything) and after the second try I successfully get win2k installed. But evertime I boot it runs chkdsk right after the bootup screen. It scans my hardrive and gives me a bunch of errors that say something like "File record error at segment xxxx..." after that windows loads up and everything seems fine so far atleast. Also, I can't defrag or use check disk. Anybody know what's going on here? Bad ram? bad hd?

I'll try to swap the master and slave drive tomorrow and reload windows again to see if that works.

How makes the HD? Go to the manu's site. Most manu's have DOS based utilities to diagnose HD problems.
