Is this a scam??? Is there any way to get them to quit calling?

Someone from 866-714-2696 keeps calling me all the freaking time on my cell phone and its getting on my nerves. When I pick up, nobody is ever there. If I try to call the number back, I am immediately disconnected. I don't think I have ever given my cell # to anyone other than friends or family.

My wife did a Google search on the number, and apparently lots of other people are getting the same thing, although a few people apparently didn't get disconnected and actually spoke to someone. Folks online have reported that this is some type of credit scam. Some people are like me in that they didn't think they had ever given out their cell # to any businesses. The popular speculation is that this credit company is dialing random numbers.

Is anyone else getting this? Is there anything I can do?

I was getting this for a relatively long time a while back. I looked into it and got pretty much nowhere, although I did report the number to the do not call list website every time they called. They were calling my home number, not my cell though.

The calls did finally stop though, eventually. One time, someone was actually there when I picked the phone up and they said the call was concerning my subscription to Playboy.

Is your cell # on the no-call list?

Probably not - is there a no-call list exclusively for cells, or do I need to register it on the regular no-call list? My landline is on the no-call list.

I don't know if the cell company would care, but could you call them and see what your options are (if any)? Since the calls appear to be unsolicited, maybe they can block it for you or if others are calling with the same complaints, maybe they'll do something else about it. Again, I don't know if they'll care, but you could give that a shot.
