Is this a returned cpu?

Hello, I just purchased oem 9850 Phenom from newegg. When I opened the box, i notice a residue/shadow on the cpu where you place your heatsick. In addition there is also a circular shadow/residue in the middle. Is this normal? the residue/marking is square.

I am not sure if i received an returned item or is this normal?

I don't know about residue, but there are sometimes discolorations on the IHS, even on brand new processors.

the markings/discoloraion is in sqaure shape, and also in the middle(cicular). I mean it appears someone had placed a heatsink and thermal paste in the past.
