Oh, double check to make sure...

Physically log into your Paypal account and verify that the scammer actually sent funds to your account and they appear in your account. Some scammers will send "fake" paypal payment notices via email directly to you, yet there won't be any money in your account.

I think it's highly unlikely that the scammer truly 'hacked' that paypal account. More then likely they duped the owner into giving up his password with a phishing email. This happens all the time but it does not mean you are at all at risk of getting your own account 'hacked' just because they know your paypal email.

The real owner of this paypal account will eventually find out and dispute all the transactions.
