I have found reference coolers don't seem to do a good job and stay quiet so I almost always opt for a card with a non reference cooling solution.

Just for reference, I have a stock design 670 and in 70-75* ambients, and 60% fan speed, it stays under 65*c. Side case is open and it isn't loud. I use MSI Afterburner.

The cooler on that card is well worth the extra 20 dollars. I have had two galaxy cards with that cooler, the listed 670 and a 660, trust me when I say it is virtually silent, and will stay under 60c in a good case. The 309 dollar reference PNY card is going to be a bit louder, and hotter. You will get your rebate back, mine took 2 weeks for both of my cards, PNY rebate IDK about so your on your own there.

Thanks guys. I bought the galaxy. Actually went with amazon, because after shipping it was same price and I like amazon better. so Total was $338 for the card. I really wanted to give Nvidia a go this time. Hopefully it will be a good choice.
