Is this a good television? HDTV

What are your opinions on this tv?

For the time being I will not have any HDTV service so how will it look with a standard definition tv signal (dish)?

My main question is why does this tv cost $999 when most of the others cost over $1700? Does this use obsolete technology (DLP vs CRT) and if so does that make it junk?

Ok, another question, for the most part when I watch tv I lay on the floor a bodies length from the set with my head proped on pillows such that my head is ~12" above the ground. From looking at projection televisions I know that they are somewhat angle limited, will the situition I described cause this effect (of course I will make a fool of myself when I go to the store and try this in the middle of the aisle)?

Just pay for for DLP. The latest DLP technology uses a blending method that really knocks my socks off. I bought a 65" Mitsubishi just before DLP came out and I am so sorry I did. I am happy with my TV, but DLP technology really is so much more advanced. It won't burn-in or fade and doesn't die an early death like plasma. I know it is easy for me to say to spen more $$, but that's what forums are for, eh? Good luck. The most inportant thing is that you end up with an HD setup. HDTV is GREAT! You will be happy as long as you get an HDTV.

Everything is relative Bouzouki- I have a 27" Sharp, a 32" Panansonic, and a 35" Sanyo- so to me this would be an excellent tv.

if you want HDTV on a budget go with a Sanyo 30" from walmart great tv for the money

What are your opinions on this tv?

I would never get that TV, is only has 1 component input and no DVI or HDMI connection, which will be necessary for the HD DVD's/BluRay discs coming out. I would also get something that accepts a 720p input even if the TV upconverts the signal to 1080i.
