the 40% coupon is for employees at certain dell associates (like a hospital) and no it cant be used on monitors it must be used of a pc above 1600..if i could i would share it with u ppl but i cant

Dude... I mean...

I thought we where over this already?

Get the darn system! Beleive me: it will NOT burn your house, and it WILL run pretty fast.

If I say yes will you stop asking? Thats not a bad price, but I can't recomend a pentium-D to anyone with a clear concience. If you want to help me get a bigger bonus than feel free, but I went with the X2 because it's the better CPU..

do your own damn research...people who ask for opinions usually do it to triple check that everythign is compatible, not to ask what's best blah blah.

Yes its a good deal. The best evar? Probably not, but its a good deal especially considering thats a 19'' monitor in the deal and a 4 year warranty. I'd drop it to 3 or 2 years warranty myself if that drops the price a decent amount. Laptops seem worth the extra warranty, desktops not so much in my experience.

(Personally as well, I can't really recommend Intel D chips either from what I've read but for a Dell, its gonna be fine.)

lol... no... this is a bad system and will cause you to have recurring genital herpes...

good thing i had these threads to play in while sitting on conference calls today... would have been very bored otherwise...

That's a tough one.

Those components are definitely worth more money than you evidently are paying. Tell me, does that $1,450 include shipping? Sometimes Dell adds some extra fees at the last minute, and the can total well over $200. The cost of a similarly-powered custom system is roughly the same, maybe just a bit more.

I don't know, though... A Pentium D? And Dell? I guess you might do it for that price, but certainly don't go any higher. If Dell tries slapping on $100-$200 in shipping/taxes, I'd say forget it.

You cant beat the price...yes you can certainly beat the performnce but not anywhere near that price for all the other comparable components.

the sad thing is more that Dell doesn't let us configure AMD systems and still get the 40% coupons. Damn Intel and their exclusionary practices!!!

get the Dell you will be happy with that system....It rocks. Though I wouldn't regularly recommend a P-D on equal pricing footing, I ultimately still recommend dual core cpus....

You're asking the wrong people...(myself included).

It's like asking a car enthusiast if you should buy a Mustang fastback that's on discount, or a Shelby Cobra that isn't...

The better bargain is obviously the Mustang, but the enthusiast will tell you to get the Cobra every time!
The Dell system is a good bargain for the money. It's obvious that you're not really an enthusiast yet (or you wouldn't be asking these questions), so you honestly won't notice too much difference anyway!
Your idea to build your own on the next system is probably a good one...wait until you've "played" with systems a bit more and done some more reading.
Who knows...by then, Intel may have the better system (possible in about 2-3 years).

Use the 40% coupon, re-sell it on eBay for a $200 profit then build a machine with X2 4400+ and 7800 GT.

Or, do it the cheap way and buy the stuff in my sig. 😉

please stop threadcrapping...troll

YES, buy it, good deal with that coupon...

its a nice system... looks like you got a very good deal on it... and the back light on the XPS systems it just awesome... and since its a XPS you get tech support in the US (nashville) so you dont half to deal with india if something goes out on it.

Its a Buy...

For ppl technically able to do it. I think he is a bit green and wouldn't mind admitting it. I think this is the best system for him.

Even if he lived like a few miles from me where I dcould build it for him, I could not beat that price and come close enough to it to offset the cost to the perfromance...just cannot be done.

He should change the title to say "for the price"...no one with half a brain can argue that unless they just are cheap and dont like speding over a 1000 period. No one could build as complete a system for under 1000 regardless the brand AMD or Intel...sorry cannot be done....You could get the cpu and mobo for free and could not do it....

19 NOOOO???? You guys are idiots....It says "good" PC, not perfect....Look at the price...You could not beat it in price or performance for that price...dont mention OCing...not everyone is technically advanced to DIY or OC...Cut him some slack...

you know, i think in the end it came down to wether i wanted better overall other crap (surround sound speakers, 19inch modem, extra gig of RAM, media center edition, extra 160 gig HD, 4 year warranty) and lesser quality processor (D 830), OR a better processor (amd X2 3800) and less other crap (1 gig less ram, only one 120 gig hard drive, smaller monitor, mo media center, no surround sound speakers, not as good warranty). Thing is the option with the better processor cost abt 150 more in the end. wtf I mreally much rather have all those other things AND spend less money. Its not like im going to be benchmarking this thing, im not gonna spend my day comparing it to other systems on the net, im just gonna use it, if it can do what i need smoothly, i am totally fine. Problem is i came to a site where the people are helpful......, but are also the kind of people that care about the difference of 7 seconds when encoding a video or something and are mostly amd enthusiasts.
