Is this a good OC?

AMD 3500+ newcastle stock 2.2 @ 2.4 right now. How is this for this chip? Is this average, low, high?

Whats an average OC for something like this using 1 GB (2x512) crucial sticks and an asus A8V Deluxe Motherboard

i would say a good OC would br around the 2.7ghz seeing as my first OC got my 1.8 venice upto 2.45ghz...

thats better than urs and i started .4ghz below urs... and have a lower multi...

read up on some of the VERY GOOD OC guides on here and other forums and have another go !!!

I'm not really looking for balls to the walls, i just want a little extra oomph since CS:S is a crappy programmed game and eats cpu like mad

u think CS:S is bad program...?!?

i dont know anything about programming really but always thought CS was one of the better designed games... especially the way levels are built...?!? and the game runs well on really low spec systems.... i mean i get 120+fps from it !!!

I'd say you might be able to get a little more, but 2.7 is most likely not possible with a Newcastle on air cooling.
I have a 3800+ Newcastle and I can't even boot at 2.6 (2.4 stock). These chips run hot from the start, and when you up the voltage, you need water cooling to keep the temps low enough for a even a good OC.

For a Newcastle? 2400mhz is actually close to average, with 2500mhz being considered good.

Dont get me wrong i love the game, however it should not be as cpu dependant as it is.

Actually, I am quite impressed with the temps one it, running at 90-94F on stock cooling and 2 enermax case fans with the back fan being on low

That is kind of low, should be able to get to at least 2.5gz. Don't expect anything like hitting 2.7 ghz as every processor is different. GL!
