I would get a NF4 Ulta mobo (Chaintech VNF4 Ultra) and yes you will need to use a socket 939 CPU with a socket 939 motherboard.

I would look into something with PCI-X, only because that is what the future will hold and allows for expanded upgradibility. You can get away with a cheap video card if you absolutely have to and just upgrade later.

Well could you post some links to better mobos within good price range? $200-$300.

Also, was wondering if ASUS is a good company for mobos or should I go for nforce4?

PCI-X and PCI Express are two totally different things.

You consider that a good price range? Where do you live?

i like my a8v deluxe, but today, it would be best to get something with nforce4. the via chipsets have some issues, but i havent had any. i think you will be dissapointed if you get it, not because its bad, but because nforce4 is a lot better, and there is a lot of cheap boards out there with nf4 if price is an issue.

The Chaintech VNF4 Ultra is a good board for a good price. It does lack firewire and has a poor manual though (as I have heard).

Don't get a VIA chipset. Your best bet would be to go with a cheap nForce4 Ultra board like the Chaintech if you're on the budget. If you can spare a bit more, the MSI Neo4 Platinum is a great board and has tons of awesome features, and the DFI Lanparty Ultra-D is the best overclocking board on the market.

Good call, the Chaintech VNF4 Ultra is solid, I have it in one of my comps, it is good for the price, I also have the K8N neo4, and it runs well too
