Is this a good monitor?

I found this monitor at Best Buy for $300 and it has some really nice specs. specs My friend wants to get it. Is it a good monitor?

Pretty good specs, but it's a shadow mask. I tend to appreciate aperture grille monitors more.

yes it'll be good for gaming. The important thing for games is size, and colors, and sharpness is required for text.

I heard shadow mask has worse colors that aperture grille.

It looks ok. It won't have as good of colors as a aperture grill. So it might not be as good for games. But then again it is only $300... good luck finding a good AG monitor that cheap.

The spec looks impressive, and the price is good too.. MAG produce fairly decent stuff, I just don't like the JAG control(in your situation it's not using the JAG control). but I prefer AG over shadow mask. but There's people swear by shadow mask (do a search and you'll see). I don't think you can get better deal then $300..

What is JAG control?

the OSD control on some MAG monitor is a dial, and you rotate the dial to go through all the settings.. it's not a bad idea, but in a few instance that it feels hard to control. If they can make the control more precise, I'd prefer it over the buttons. but it is still better then Sony's control
