Is this a good mobo combo deal?

It looks decent to me. It really depends on what you're gonna use it for. I would stick that in and make a file server. I really wanna find a mATX board/cpu combo on the cheap to make a media center PC, now that I've got a great MC setup...

Damn, you could have picked a combo with a Sempron from Outpost.com for about half the price...

Yep, and there's like a 1 out of 10 chance it would be a 64 bit Sempron, which would make it about the same thing for like $80, except he'd be stuck with a sucky ECS board. That combo has been on sale for like 2 months, they must have a metric ton of those things.

1 out of 10 chance of being a 64 Sempron? I have bought 3 Sempron combos and so far they all have 64 bit enabled.

Rock on, man. From Outpost or Fry's in-store? At the Fry's here, the only way you get a 64 bit Sempron is if the clerk who pulls it out the cage doesn't know what he/she is doing. They try to stick you with the older revisions over here. More power to you if you're 3 for 3, though. I'm 0 for 2 and I think one of my friiends got a Revision E (those are 64-enabled, right) and nobody else did. Luck of the draw, maybe, or maybe if you order online you get hooked up.

you should have put this in the correct forum... and i personally dont think its a very good deal... if you have to get it now... go for it, but i personally would wait until a better deal comes along.

are you talking about 3100's or 2800's? Both of my 2800's have 64 enabled. afaik there is no way to tell without firing it up.
and the ecs nforce3a has been good to us so far

He's talking about the 3100. Most (all?) of the socket 754 2800's are 64-bit enabled. I'm 0 for 1 for the 3100 combo from outpost. The chip is 64-bit enabled but it isnt a palermo(newer, better core).
