Is this a good "menu" for a computer company

Me and a freind will be selling computers at school and I set up this "menu", I want to keep it simple so I might take some options off, or, if you suggest anything, change some.
Everything in the () are for my freind

And I'd rather hear anyone tell me not to sell them because we're both expierienced and we have a few sales ready.

You might consider making pre-made packages. If people are that familiar with the parts themselves, chances are they know how to build computers too. OTOH, "Gigabyte 965P DS3" won't mean a lot to a non-techie. Offer like an "AMD Gamer's Package" or an "Intel Pro Power Package".

Another possibility is to give out business cards with your website on them. On the website, make a Javascript builder like Dell or Alienware. Have checkboxes next to the parts and add descriptions of what they are. Like for the Intel chips, you can label the lowest one as "Best Value" and the top speed model as the "Performance enhancer".

I agree with Kaido. You should spell out what type of system you are building for them (Basic, Gamer, etc). A lot of what you are offering may be overkill for a non gameer or OCer. Also, I hope you aren't providing the links to Newegg, ZZF and TD. If people see the sites, they can start to think, why would they need to go to you when they can do it themselves. You can show them what you will charge them for the part, but don't show where you intend to purchase the parts. IMHO.

Well, since they already understand they are paying retail prices plus shipping which they would on their own anyway plus some service fee for assembly, seeing the prices is not necessarily a bad thing and indeed reassures them there are no shens and that firewolfsm et alli do shop around in lieu of actually being able to offer lower prices as licensed resellers.

You may want to have a back-up choice on the power supply. Newegg/Chiefvalue occasionally take it down from the site when, presumably, they don't have stock.

Don't worry about that, this is just selling them personally to a few freinds, I can talk to them and decide what they need.

I forgot about the OCZ gold issue though, thanks sdy284

Make sure you dont let your english teacher doesn't read your post!! Me and a friend or a friend and me! Also learn how spell FRIEND. Not frEInd but frIEnd.

You also need to (probibly) include Windows or some OS

On a side note, how old are you? You must also look at the legal view of this and see if you are willing to take the risks and responibilities. If a computer breaks down YOU have to troubleshoot it, YOU have to fix it, and YOU have to get new parts fast enough for them to not lose any productivity. If there are problems with the computer, people can also try to take legal action against you. I would recomend sitting down with a lawyer first unless you know all this already. I have no doubt that you can build a fully functioning PC (dont forget is also has to be stable) but there is also the legal perspective.

One thing I am not sure about, depending on many things, is tax, buissness licence and so on...

If you have these things sorted out then I wish you good luck =)

First of all, I can spell fine, the keyboards here just suck and I'm not going to bother proof-reading it for you. Second, I've built a few computers already and they've been fine so far (I've had one for a year, running cool and with a 50% OC). I've done repairs for some of my freinds too.

And, legal action on a minor is pointless because he/she can't be held liable for anything.

This isn't nearly as serious as you all apparently think it is. I'm just helping some people save a few hundred by not getting Dells.

I understand but legal action could be used against your parents/gurdians. You still have to check the legal info. If it is just for a few friends, and not some people at school who randomly what one, then it is OK. By that I mean only from people you really know! Not a friend of a freind's brother's grandma's bestfriend at school 50 years ago's son's friend's brother's friend which you probibly wont get even close to but it is just an example.

On the options/"menu", I think this would do very well, but I agree that he average user won't understand most. You don't seem to have low-end in mind though, as most low end PCs only include 512MB of RAM, with some even only coming with 256MB of RAM, not that I recomend those small amounts (I belive you should have the 512MB option but probbibly not the 256MB as it will underperform).

You might be right about the 512MB but if the computer is budget oriented I'd just tell them to get Dell, which would be better at that price point. I do know these people and wouldn't scam them for money. I might offer a cheaper C2D board though.

Basically it looks like no one sees any other problems with the list, thanks people.
