is this a good laptop?

Toshiba have a good reputation with laptops and offer good support for the various OS's, even if they did not ship with your laptop.
Best checking their support site first and see what drivers and such are available for the model before u buy.
Also check on memory manufacturer sites like "Crucial" and see whether they are doing memory that'll go in the laptop. Laptop manufacturer supplied memory is way overpriced 🙁

That laptop looks sweet, u can add more memory if u need, and TFT is as good as it gets.

I have a cheap IBM i1200. It has a 500 celery, HPA, have upgraded it to 160mb and installed Win2K to dual boot with the supplied 98se - does everything i need of a lappy. No gameing tho' - but that aint what i bought it for.

As long as your not planning on gameing (no laptop is up to this IMO) u be happy with that Toshiba.

Good luck,

rockhard =)

aha, thanks for the reply! It's basically just a computer to type stuff on, it's not for me but for my dad. Seems ok huh?

If he will just be doing word processing (and maybe some Internet browsing) then the system is technically quite a bit of overkill, but should be a good system that will do what he needs for several years.

VAIO

I actually ended up ordering that one. It was the same price but outpost.com gave 64 more megs free 🙂 Yeah I realize systems at this level are overkill, but it's hard to find a new laptop with lower specs.
