Is this a good laptop HD?

5400 rpm drives are very slow, but it is cheep.
It would be best served by being used as a backup/storage drive in a two drive system.

Is it really worth it to buy a 7200RPM drive? What's the performance difference between 5400RPM and 7200RPM. Also, do 7200RPM's take a lot more power?

For same capacity 7200rpm drives are faster and should take more power.
Larger 5400rpm drives can be faster but still slower at seek times.

I got a seagate 500 gig 5400rpm drive in my laptop and its the first laptop drive i've had which actually performs pretty well. It beats all of my 320 gig desktop drives (1+ years old) in read speeds.
