Anyone have this drive? it will be for my new system for the Black Friday. I doubt DVD drives go much cheaper but maybe I am wrong?

right now in my current system I have an IDE LG CD/DVD Burner. Even though it's IDE it's super fast and good quality. Never had problems with it.

a good burner is one that works. i have seen industrial ones fail and cheap ones that work every single time. if the ones you get work, just use them normally and dont abuse them. they will probably last for years and years.

I have that same asus on my rig~no problems so far. The only con may be that it is a bit loud, but this is expected when burning/reading disks...
 
Yes. It's also a fair CD ripper, which is the one thing that's really different between various models.
 
The quality of your blank media has more of an impact.
