I would never spend $316 on a video card much less $200, It's not worth it to me. But if you care about that stuff then I would say go ahead but it's not a fantastic deal. If you are patient you can wait to get the same thing from NewEgg as a refurbished product for about $225.

I think you need to keep on looking. Prices will always go down and $316 aint all that hot at all IMO.

Remember, this is also a high end TIVO unit as well.

Hi -

This is a great card; you can do video caps from different sources, watch cable TV on the monitor while surfing, and record programming onto you hard drive, not to mention gaming. But not at that price for a refurbished unit. Refurb's are generally sold as OEM's with no guarantee they're complete with all cables and connectors, and in this case it would include the little RF transmitter and remote control unit. I bought one in June from NewEgg for about $340. Warranties on these returned units are usually greatly reduced too, so that's got to be an issue if you're paying over $300.

You could go with an entry-level card (maybe a 7000?) and wait for prices to come down on the AIW 9700 & 9800 models. As I mentioned, I think this is a great card but its expensive to get these capabilities and you'd really want to have all the accessories and the warranty backup when you buy one. HTH.

I wouldn't go that far. I have an AIW radeon and a Replay (better than Tivo IMHO), and the Radeon card doesn't even come close to my Replay when it comes to a PVR. No commercial advance (try that on a Tivo), no 'real' channel guide (mine goes out 12 days) and nowhere near the functionality of a stand alone PVR. It's OK for captures, but if that's what your looking for, I'd go with the Hauppage 250/350. Much better PQ and hardware encoding/decoding.

BTW, I paid a total of $370.00 for my Replay including an upgrade to a 160GB HD (easy as pie w/Replay) and lifetime subscription.

$316 is definitely not hot for this card at all. I just picked up an Radeon 9800 Pro AIW (retail) for $340 a few days ago. Definitely worth it for another $24.
