People say Apex TV's suck, my friend has the 27" model for $150 during Black Friday and his picture and TV looks great and he's never said anything bad about it. -- mrcodedude
Quite honestly, I very much doubt it's a good TV. If it's a good buy depends on your preferences and what you think makes a good TV. I'd rather spend more for a better picture but everybody's different. If size is all you want (ha ha) then this might be a good buy.
it's ok. I got one for a 190 - $20 gift card a couple months back. It's probably the cheapest s-video tv you can get. The overall picture is good (brightness/contrast/saturation). Don't let the factory presets fool you (they suck). The only thing is you need to make sure you don't get a weird model. The original one I bought had slight "rising suns" on either side of the screen when it was displaying black.
Anyway, there's no real point in spending more money unless you're getting hdtv (30" widescreen for $850.00 + 100 gift card at best buy).
The price isn't that hot but the TV is good. You can usually get them from CC for about $179 (sometimes they are around $189 or $199).
I bought the 24" Apex (it has a more flat screen than the 27") for $149 about a year ago. I still love it.. people always comment on the picture (especially the s-video), then I tell them what it costs and they're speechless. Definitely worth the money for an extra TV!
I picked up a 24" Apex last week. Works good pictures good. I just got it as a crutch till I get an HDTV. But wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for $160 its not a bad deal at all.
