Is this a good computer? Also Video Card Question

Guys, I've been out of the loop for a while. Used to build my own PCs years ago, back when Athlon was the big deal and Radeons x800XT were all the rage. Aside from my nastalgia trip, I need some help, as I am buying a new PC.

I've decided to buy from a custom PC builder instead of building my own. I'm way too far out of the loop to build my own, and I had a very bad experience last time building my own, with bad parts; and its safe to say that I couldn't just "return it" for a new one. So, I was thinking of getting a pretty good gaming computer for a somewhat reasonable price. This is the computer I was thinking of getting:
http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/sy...er_Infinity_SLI_Ultra/

Specs for the lazy: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @2.66Ghz 1333FSB
MSI P7N SLI-FI 750i SLI
4GB (2x2GB) PC6400
DUAL 9800GTX+ 512MB
500GB Sata-II 3.0GB/s 16MB 7200RPM
Onboard 7.1 sound.

Anyways guys, there it is. My questions are:
1.) Is Cyberpowerpc a good, reputable place? (I read an article on AnAndTech and they said they were good)
2.) Probably most important, is it better to get dual 8800GTs or are the dual 9800GTXs better?
3.)Are all of those parts solid?
4.)Is that a good Motherboard?

Thanks guys.

personally i'd either go up to a q9550 or go down to the q6600 anything in between isnt really worth it. also can you tell what is your budget, monitor size, and if you game or not because i wouldnt really go with dual graphics card setups unless your playing on a large monitor because single powerful cards are usually better in cooling, space, power consumption, microstuttering, scaling, etc.

I'd rather spend 110$ less on a e8400 instead. I'd go with a p45 mobo, and if your monitor warrants it, I'd go with dual HD4850's, less money, similar or better performance.

Thanks for the input guys...It's been so long since I've been in the hardware "know how". Anyway, my monitor will output a max resolution of 1680x1050, and I don't plan on going any higher than that. I will primarily use my computer for gaming, and other regular tasks. Any suggestions for a good single graphics card that will outperform dual 9800GTX/dual 8800GTs? I know people love the radeon series, but is it that much better? Let me know, thanks.

For your res, a single HD4870 could suffice as well. If it's mainly gaming you will do, DEFINATELY stick with the e8400 and save yourself the cash.

It's not that the radeon series are so much better, they do often offer better price/performance then Nvidia right now. I'd have to say though, build yourself, and save a few $100.

I too would definitely build it myself for those prices. The pre-built pick-your-own sites are a nice idea but I don't like the way they often restrict your choices. I'd go for an ATI 4870 at your resolution, as others have said.

yeah i would definately go with the e8400 since a fast dual core will serve your purpose better than a quad and go with a p45 motherboard since intel chipsets are usually more stable than nvidia and you dont need a second pcie slot. a 4870 is probably the best choice for that resolution, i can play nearly everything maxed at that resolution with my 4850 but having the 4870 will allow you to turn up the eye candy

So games wouldn't run any slower by going just dual core? I was under the impressions that quad cores gave better performance all around...OS/gaming/processing aps/ handling video encoding, etc.

By the way, for the roughly $200 I would save by building it myself, I don't want to do that experience again...gave me way too many headaches/trouble shooting issues with DOA parts and faulty motherboards with bad bios....it's turned me off to building for a while.

personally i love getting in there and building it myself, the money saving just a huge bonus. quad cores really dont offer a noticable gain in most everyday/gaming needs over a fast dual core. i have a q6600 G0 stepping and it honestly doesnt feel any different than my brothers e8400. also since you'll be gaming at 16x10 cpu is less important than a good gpu.

Quad core processors go to waste in most modern games as they are all still single-threaded. A good dual-core is what you need!

Bookcase, please show me the setup you will be buying and for what cost. If it's 'just' $200 it's actually not such a bad idea for people who don't want to go through the pain of building themselfs, or for people who just don't know how to ...

Marc,
The setup is the one listed in my first post. The price is in the link. How it is configured there, is how I would buy it. My last custom system I built was such a hassle. Between the bad video card I had to swap out constantly, and the terribly built motherboard I had, not to mention DOA RAM, it just isn't worth it to me. Although, the system I built before that was fine, but the last build just put me off.

I'm just not to sure about running 2 9800gtx's on a 600w PSU. Don't know how good the nxzt psu's are.

Get a e8400 though, itll be faster for gaming ... Btw, by building yourself you could save $300 easily. To bad you don't live nextdoor, because for just $100 I would have it build it for ya, hell, $50 could do the trick, and if you're a good friend I might help for free 😛
