Is this a good buy

I would have to say no. For a few reasons. 1) Never heard of the company 2) VCR's are dead, get a good DVD player 3) good deal based on what? Is every other store selling it for $150?

VCR's are dead but it's a convenient way to dub movies.

Convenient? Yes. Good idea? No. Much better to duplicate them onto another DVD especially since there are dual layer burners out now. That and you'd be losing picture quality by transferring to VHS along with any hope of longevity.

i wouldn't go as far to say VCR is dead; it is nice to have some backward-compatiblity. You never know if someone brought a tape over to your house and wants to play it.


90 bucks is okay for that thing, have you try checking out Walmart? (Aldi is the practically the new WalMart anyways)

Here's the cheapest one at Wally World:

Emerson DVD/VCR

It doesn't appear to have progressive scan like the one at Aldi.

I noticed this:

Note: Most DVDs are copy-protected, so the VCR cannot copy them.

True?
