Man i just keep coming back to this thread everytime i am at AanT

anyway, i dont really like the sonata at all. it has really bad air intake and it has two little stupid lights in front, i personally dont like lights at all but if i am gonna have lights i would like a little more then 2 tiny spots. And i really hate the antec holes on the side panels!

I love the super lanboy on the other hand tho.
It is very light, comes with a strap, has room for 120mm fan in front and back. And to me, it looks great, altho most people hate the way the front bezel looks.

The aspire case you picked out before is not that bad.

To make it quiet, cut the grill on the back panel of the fans(the grills covering the exhaust fans are very restrictive) and use 2 80mm panaflo L1A in the back and 2 in the front and undervolt them to 7v.
Get a quiet PSU like a $20-30 sparkle/forton and mod it with a panaflo M1A(to be on the safe side)
Then just get a quiet HSF and the samsung HDD

and you got yourself a very nice setup with the other stuff. If you really like likes, get the forton aurora

It use to be 30 bucks shipped but people like it so much they step up the price a whole bunch!

o btw, do you really need a floppy drive? i got one in my recent build for myself and to this day i have not used it once, with 100mb of mail from yahoo and little thumbdrives, it was 12 bucks i could of used for a movie ticket =(

I've gotta say I like my Sonata. It's easy to work in without being too big. Pretty quiet as long as the rest of your components are (and the hard drives are rubber mounted). And it comes with a good quality power supply. No idea how well stuff stays cool, but my (admitedly low-end) 2.4B runs cool in it.

I'd like a "Sonata 2" or something with a bigger PSU with updated power connections, another air intake fan space, etc., but IMO the Sonata is a nice case for a nice price.

i added the recommended psu from newegg for 43 bucks...and the aspire case just went on a blowout sale on newegg and price including shipping dropped 20 bucks!

how long do blowout sales last?does this mean newegg is getting rid of it?

I think you should change your motherboard the via chipset are the first generation chipset for the athlon 64 i say you go with a board that has a nforce3 250 which has agp/pci lock ( for overclocking). I think its just more stable then via chipset but whatever you decide just go with a amd64.

For case and powersupply you should go with a good brand powersupply and for case just buy anything you think looks nice to you and if it comes with a powersupply take it out and put a new one in. i recommend antec true power series they are very reliable and quiet also with 3 year warranty so if your using this system for a long time go with antec. i use to have a generic case and ps and it died on me in a year.

what will you be doing with this sytem anyways? you should pick parts based on what you do with your computer.
