Is this a good A64 stepping?

Hi all,
I just got my 3000+ winnie and Neo 2 plat and will be testing them out this weekend. I was surprised that the chip was so old, week 41 2004. Is this week included in the batches that people are considering to be inferior overclockers?

Here are the CPU opn codes:

ada3000dik4bi
cbbfd 0441mpmw
1127639j40135

I was hoping to get at least 2.3Ghz or so out of it, so anything else is gravy for me.

Mine was a week 37 so who knows.....Some have had issues with week 50 and newer so maybe this will be good for you...

I was under the impression week 34-39 was pretty good..

Aren't they at week 50-51 now?

But still CBBFD.

Neweggs OEM says the same thing..

Good luck, that same exact bundle will be here for me next week.

My chip from Monarch about 3 weeks ago was a 2004 Week 51 CBBID chip. Seems odd that later shipping is earlier production weeks. I could get a little more from the CPU with higer voltage but 2.5 ghz was such a nice number.

SPBW 0448 gets no love but mine is prime stable 2.7 on stock voltage and bench stable at 2875 with 1.65v

Well after some casual application of Zebo's guide I have gotten it to post at 2.6Ghz but so far my highest prime stable(so far at least) is only 2340Mhz. I got it to boot at 2.7 once and it gets into windows but fails prime at 2.6Ghz.

How high can I push the voltage on this chip and is core center's voltage value accurate on the neo2?

The neo2 undervolts on the range of .06 to .06volts....I use cpu_z application (version 1.27)...It will confirm this....

So in that case set it to 1.5v in the bios with a over vid of 5% and that should be about 15.2-1.54v actual...when you load the board will actually increase .01 to .02v.....Thi swill keep in that more safe 10% max volting range....

I think the CBBID's memory controller sucks. I think that's the problem with these newer Winchesters. I can run perfectly stable at 2475... but to go higher, I have to run a RAM divider because my RAM isn't good past 225 MHz. As soon as I use a RAM divider, it craps out in Prime95 after a few seconds of the blend test even if I reduce the clock speed and raise the voltage. The small FFT test however, runs just fine with a RAM divider, but eventually Windows will BSOD.

I think I have to agree with you there based on results I have seen. Though in some ppls cases some boards just have issues with ram dividers. My board passes memtest and prime95 while using dividers but I am not doing what this ram should have been capable for and what it can do at a lower speed...like 300HTT 1:1 cas 3-4-4-10, 1t fully stable....only can be done at 8x300 and not 9x300 which is prime stable with 1.61v...

Really? I've been looking around for info about that so I don't spend $300 on another processor only to find it won't solve my problem. Maybe I'll try another motherboard like the Epox or DFI when it comes out since that'll be cheaper than either a processor or different RAM.

Well I got it up to 2475 and its been prime stable for 6 hours already. I had to loosen up my RAM timings though. I'm sure having 4 sticks is getting me there a bit. Had to do 2.5-3-3-7 with a divider to keep the speed down as it's only pc2700 and they don't quite do 200Mhz stable.

Ok My final OC(prime stable for 12 hours so far) is 2520 Mhz with the RAM @ 180Mhz@2.5-3-3-7. I want to thank Duvie and Zebo and everyone else on this board for all their advice and insight on A64 overcocking. You guys rock! 😀
