It seems to almost go without saying that at the very least, the people in the top 2% should be pretty happy about it.

To have it all displayed in one graphic like that... pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.

Tremendous long-term damage to society all to cater to people who don't need the money.

If it bothers you so much you probably should do something to stop it.

No. Our priorities have been out of whack for quite some time. The difference now is that people feel even more helpless to do anything about it since democracy has effectively been corrupted, and our voices effectively drowned out, by monied interests.

Bush tax cuts are invalid. You cant count the extra revenue created by the Bush tax cuts, because if they were reversed the revenue would actually shrink! Rich people can move outside of this country and rich people would just invest in area with less tax.

You cant fix stupid.

I was watching the news and the stupid president was finding new kickbacks for business disguised as a jobs bill! Here we go back to the trough! These business people know how to line up for some free money.

So how much did that stupid 20,000 mph Glider cost that DARPA tested on thursday? We dont need technology that we will never use! Remember the last bomb they made? They called it MOAB and we never used that. What about the stupid ramjet tests? Did we ever make a ramjet? How about something useful like an electric car that is powered off of this new Bloom Box Technology?????

NO!

I'm not happy with that.

I want $1.2 trillion in spending cuts from this year's budget as the maximum for FY 2012's budget and not one cent in tax increases.

Oh, yes, get rid of at least 50% of these onerous federal regulations.

All the average American can do now is to riot in the streets.

I know people who are making $30,000 a year who are ready to riot in the streets because they cannot afford to live.

That glider technology is actually pretty awesome. It doesn't even have to be stealth, because it can fly so fast that 1) Air defense weaponry can't catch it. It's faster than Patriot PAC3 missiles or bullets and 2) By the time they noticed it on radar it would have bombed the target and exited that country's airspace.

The people either organize and elect a counter-group to the agenda of the wealthy - which means progressives as a practical matter - or continue to have their wealth taken.

See, this type of thinking is not going to solve the problem.

Quote: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."
Albert Einstein

You are trying to solve a problem with the same thinking that got us into the problem.

Only revolt can solve our problems now. Unfortunately.

Quote: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Albert Einstein

This is what we have been doing. The same thing over and over and expecting different results.

What are they waiting for? This sounds entertaining.

They are not waiting. They are already rioting in passive aggressive ways.

Such as cheating on taxes and hiring illegal immigrants for slave wages.

Nebor, if other people's misery is your entertainment then you are corrupt.

They make $30,000 a year but they're hiring illegal immigrants?

I doubt it. More like competing with them in the labor pool and making that depressed wage as a result.

If you make $30k per year, you likely cut your own damn grass.

That top 2% is ALL the Republicans really care about. Lip service to anything else is just an attempt to gain votes.

California spends 50 billion dollars a year on costs related to illegal immigrants.

Who doesn't hire illegal immigrants in California when 1/3 of illegal immigrants live here.

More than two-thirds of the estimated 340,000 agriculture workers in California are noncitizens, most of whom are believed to be illegal immigrants, according to a 1998 study on farmworkers prepared for the state Legislature.

No matter who you are in California you benefited from illegal immigrant labor in the past.

Of course now we are paying for this cheap labor by the massive debt incurred from illegal immigrant costs.

This is the exact same thing that is occuring now with this debt deal.

Congress is trying to shift the burden of the debt onto the poor.

We will see the true costs of this debt deal in further decline in tax revenue and more debt.

Oh yay, instead of one group shifting my wealth to somewhere, I can pick "progressives" who will also take any "wealth" I have and shift it to those who "need" it more than I do. No thanks.

OP: Center for American Progress. Yeah, I'm sure that graph is accurate and completely unbiased. Or not.

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely against shifting wealth to the top and all that, but without seeing the details this graph means nothing, it's basically a fringe groups propaganda ploy.

The CAP has their own agenda, no doubt, but claiming them to be "fringe" is grossly unfair.

If you don't like their graph, post a different one from a source you favor. The graph is meaningless only to the extent that you want it to be.

"Here are the likely cuts."

Nothing more than conjecture. Another biased piece of tripe from the George Soros funded Center for American Progress. Designed to rouse the faithful and from the posts here, it's working. Newsflash, we're broke. Wishing doesn't change that.
